In 1999, one of Colorado Mountain College Foundation's most dynamic board members, Jim Calaway, pledged to sponsor a new performance series at CMC's Spring Valley center. He wanted to pay tribute to those who contribute significantly to CMC. He also wanted to increase the number of cultural opportunities at the New Space Theater at CMC Spring Valley Center.

This cultural series is in its seventh successful season, having brought opera performers, musical ensembles and flamenco dancers to stages around the CMC district through collaborations with other community organizations. The foundation's Center for Excellence in the Arts hosts the concert series.

This season's honorees are Gregg Rippy and John Rippy of Grand River Construction Company, Alpine Bank and its founder, Bob Young, and Shell Exploration and Production Company.

Past honorees included: Aspen Education Foundation, Dr. Michelle Balcomb, Connie Calaway, the Coal Seam Firefighters, Vince Cook, Robert & Connie Delaney, EnCana Oil & Gas (USA), Inc, Charles Forster, Mark & Mary Gould, Bill Hornaday, Robert Howard, Peter & Linda Jeschofnig, Kruidenier Family Foundation, Virginia Lappala, the Lincoln Center Institute, John Marzolf, John & Carrie Morgridge, Mark & Donna Norris, Nancy Smith, Ron Southard & Carole Perrin, Spring Valley land donors, Williams and Bob & Kay Young.
